Overview
Learners Test UAE (“the app”) is an unofficial practice app for the UAE driving theory tests. It is made by Blue Orbit, an independent developer established in Ireland (“we”, “us”), which is responsible for your personal data as its controller. We are not affiliated with the RTA, Abu Dhabi Mobility / ITC, Sharjah Police, the Ministry of Interior or any other UAE government entity.
This policy explains what data the app and our website use, why, who processes it and the choices you have. Because we are established in Ireland, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to how we process your personal data, wherever you live. We also follow the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) and the UAE Child Digital Safety Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 26 of 2025).
The app is for people aged 13 and over. We do not offer it in the United Kingdom or the United States.
In short: you can use the app without an account; analytics, crash reports and study emails stay off unless you turn them on; users under 18 only see non-personalised, teen-rated ads; and we never sell your data.
Data we collect
Stored only on your device:
- Your answers, practice and mock-test results, saved questions, study days, badges and readiness levels
- Your settings: emirate, licence, language, test date, reminders and display options
- Your answer to the age question (13 to 17, or 18 and over). An “Under 13” answer is never saved
If you sign in (optional):
- Your email address, and your name if you use Google sign-in (Firebase Authentication)
- Your progress and saved questions for each licence, the licence you are studying and your study-email choice, stored in Cloud Firestore so they sync between your devices
- If you joined through a friend's invite and finish your first mock test: an anonymous record of the invite code and the time (no name, email or account details), so your friend's app can give them their 7 days of Pro
If you report a problem with a question: the question, the reason you chose, your note, the app language and the app and content versions, without your name, email or account ID. Signed-in learners send it to our Cloud Firestore database; others send it by email.
Only if you turn on analytics and crash reports (on the privacy card or in Settings):
- Usage events such as screens viewed and tests finished, device model, Android version, app version and approximate location derived from your IP address
- Crash reports with technical details about the error
Collected automatically so the app can work:
- Identifiers: the Firebase installation ID, the notification token and, for ads, your device's advertising ID
- Ad data collected by Google AdMob and Unity Ads, such as IP address, approximate location, ad interactions and diagnostics
- Purchase status from Google Play (whether you own Pro)
- An anonymous invite code from Google Play, if you installed the app through a friend's invite link (kept on your phone until your first mock test)
- App integrity checks (Firebase App Check with Google Play Integrity)
If you email us: your email address and what you write.
Our website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. Its host, GitHub Pages, records technical data such as IP addresses to keep the service secure.
We do not collect your precise location, phone number, contacts, photos, files, messages or payment card details.
How we use your data
We use your data only to:
- Run the app: show questions, tests, explanations, progress and badges
- Keep your progress in sync across your devices when you sign in
- Send notifications for your emirate, licence and language, and local study reminders, if you allow notifications
- Send study emails, only if you are 18 or over and tick the opt-in box (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- Show ads when you do not have Pro, and give the rewards you choose to earn
- Unlock Pro after a purchase or a referral reward
- Understand how the app is used and fix crashes, only if you turn this on
- Keep the app secure and prevent fraud and abuse
- Answer your emails and requests, and meet our legal obligations
We never sell your personal data. We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Legal bases and consent
Under the GDPR, we rely on these legal bases:
- Contract: to provide the app, your account and Pro
- Consent: for analytics, crash reports and study emails, and for ads that use your data where Google's consent message asks for your choice
- Legitimate interests: to keep the app secure and prevent fraud and abuse, and to fund the free version with ads where no consent is asked for
- Legal obligation: where a law requires us to keep or disclose data
Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, we process your personal data with your consent or, where that law allows processing without consent, because it is needed to provide the service you ask for (for example syncing your progress after you sign in, or keeping the app secure) or to meet a legal obligation.
You give or refuse consent on the privacy card, in Google's consent message (shown where the law requires it) and with the study-email checkbox, which is never ticked in advance. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings, under Ad privacy choices, or with the unsubscribe link in any email. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before.
Ads
Without Pro, the app shows Google AdMob banners on some screens, never on question or test screens, and rewarded videos that you choose to watch. Rewarded ads come from Google or from Unity Ads, which competes for them through AdMob mediation. There are no full-screen pop-up ads, and there are no ads at all with Pro.
Ad partners use your advertising ID, IP address and similar data to show and measure ads, limit how often you see them and prevent fraud. They may personalise ads for adults where the law allows. Where the law requires it, for example in the EEA and Switzerland, Google's consent message (Google User Messaging Platform) asks for your choices first. You can review your choices at any time under Ad privacy choices in Settings.
If you answer that you are under 18, the app asks every ad network for non-personalised ads rated suitable for teens only, and no targeted ads are shown to you.
You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings. Google explains its use of data at policies.google.com/privacy, and Unity at unity.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Purchases
Pro is a one-time in-app purchase: AED 19.99 in the UAE. The price can differ by country, and Google Play shows it before you pay. Google Play handles the payment under its own terms and privacy policy, and we never see or store your card or payment details.
The app receives from Google Play only what it needs to confirm that you own Pro, such as the product, the purchase status and a purchase token. Pro belongs to the Google account you used on Google Play, not to a Learners Test UAE account.
The 7 days of Pro you can earn through a referral end automatically and involve no payment.
Children and teens
The app is for people aged 13 and over who are preparing for a UAE driving licence. Children under 13 may not use it, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Before you start, the app asks how old you are. If you answer “Under 13”, the app stops there and explains that it is for learners aged 13 and over: it requests no ads, keeps analytics and crash reports off, does not offer sign-in and does not save the answer. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
The UAE Child Digital Safety Law treats everyone under 18 as a child. When you tell the app you are 13 to 17, or don't answer the age question:
- You only see non-personalised, teen-rated ads, never targeted ads
- You are not offered study emails or any other marketing
- We limit data to what the app needs: analytics and crash reports are not offered
For everyone, the app has no public profiles, chat, comments or public leaderboards.
If you are under 18, please use the app with the knowledge of a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian can email us to ask what data we hold about their child, or to have it corrected or deleted.
International transfers
Our providers process data outside the UAE and outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Synced progress is stored in Cloud Firestore in Google Cloud's European multi-region (eur3). Firebase, AdMob, Google Play and Unity may also process data in the United States and in other countries where they or their sub-processors operate.
We transfer data only as needed to run the app, under the providers' data-processing terms. Transfers out of the EEA rely on adequacy decisions of the European Commission or on standard contractual clauses. Transfers out of the UAE rely on the safeguards the UAE law allows, including your consent where it requires it.
How long we keep data
- On your device: until you reset the app, clear its data or uninstall it
- Your account and synced progress: until you delete your account. If an account has not been used for 24 months, we may delete it together with its synced progress
- Your study-email choice: until you unsubscribe or your account is deleted
- Analytics data: up to 14 months
- Crash reports: 90 days
- Your emails to us: as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of your request
- Ad data: kept by Google and Unity under their own policies
When an account is deleted, any remaining copies in Google's backup systems are deleted on Google's normal schedule. Deleting an unused account does not affect progress saved on your device, or Pro, which belongs to your Google Play account.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (TLS). Your synced data is protected by security rules that let only your own signed-in account read or write it. Firebase App Check helps make sure requests come from the genuine app. Firebase Authentication handles sign-in, so we never see or store your password.
No system is completely secure. If you sign in with email, use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else. If we learn of a breach that affects your data, we will inform you and the authorities as the law requires.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the UAE Personal Data Protection Law you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy
- Send your data to you or to another provider in a commonly used format
- Correct inaccurate data or complete missing data
- Erase your data
- Restrict or stop processing, including for marketing
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw any consent you have given
To use your rights, email blue0orbit@gmail.com, if possible from the email address of your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We reply within 30 days; if a request is complex, we may need longer where the law allows, and we will tell you why within those 30 days.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (www.dataprotection.ie) or to the data protection authority where you live, which in the UAE is the UAE Data Office.
Deleting your account and data
In the app: Settings → Delete account. This deletes your sign-in account straight away and removes from our cloud database all your synced progress for every licence, your profile and your study-email choice. Progress saved on the device stays until you reset the app or uninstall it.
Without the app: follow the steps at our account deletion page or email blue0orbit@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my data”, from your account's email address if you can. We complete requests within 30 days.
As a guest you have no cloud data: clearing the app's data or uninstalling it deletes everything on the device. If Android backup is on, you can also delete the app's backup in your Google account settings.
Deleting your account does not cancel or refund Pro, which belongs to your Google Play account. To stop only analytics and crash reports, turn them off in Settings.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the app, the law or our providers change. The date at the top shows the current version. If we make an important change, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect and, where the law requires, ask for your consent again.
This policy is written in English and translated into Arabic. If a translation differs from the English text, the English text prevails, except where local law requires otherwise.
