Risk-recognition test practice
Short 3D clips in right-hand traffic: watch the road and tap when you would act. The app's full practice test for Dubai adds 5 clips after the questions.
What is the risk-recognition test?
In 2015 RTA announced a risk-recognition part for Dubai's theory test: 5 short video clips of about 25 seconds in which you spot hazards as they develop. That announcement page now redirects to RTA's home page and the current format is not published in detail, so treat these figures as a guide and ask your driving institute what to expect.
Dubai full practice test in the app
Choose Dubai as your emirate and the Tests tab shows a full practice test: 35 questions in 30 minutes, then 5 clips, then a summary of both parts, each with its own pass mark (23 of 35 and 3 of 5, practice targets). It uses one of your mock tests.
How the app’s clips work
46 original clips, built and animated by us in 3D for UAE roads: the driver sits on the left, roundabouts run anticlockwise and highways have a yellow left edge line. Each clip asks one thing, such as when you would start to slow down or when it is safe to pull out. You score when you tap in the window where a careful driver would act, and the explanation shows the clues.

Tips for spotting hazards
- Look far ahead, not only at the car in front, so you see a hazard while it is still developing.
- Watch for clues: brake lights, a ball in the road, a bus at a stop, a car door opening, someone looking the wrong way.
- Check your mirrors before you slow down, change lane or pull out.
- Expect riders and delivery bikes to appear beside you and between lanes.
- At roundabouts and junctions, the nearest traffic comes from your left.
Risk recognition: questions and answers
Is the risk-recognition part only in Dubai?
It is reported for Dubai's theory test. Sharjah Driving Institute says some of its theory questions use video clips. The other emirates publish no details, so ask your driving institute.
Are these the clips from the test centre?
No. They are our own 3D clips, made to practise the same skill: noticing a hazard early and acting at the right moment.
